Our Honduras Adoption

by Blake

Hi, my name is Blake, and my family adopted a three-year old girl from Honduras.

Her name is Jamie (pronounced (yay-me), and we found her while doing missions work in Tegucigalpa with our church.

We were visiting INFA, the national orphanage center, and my wife Jennifer and I absolutely fell in love with this (then) 18 month-old malnourished baby. We spoke with INFA if they would let us adopt her, and they told us that they did not allow foreign adoptions.

Regardless, Jen and I spoke to the national adoption court in Tegucigalpa, and we ended up having to pay the judge's "fee" (basically a bribe) to allow him to give us the paperwork. Still, to have this little angel in our lives is more than worth the effort!
